Im a newb at linux. Ive tried a few distros and they are full of a lot of software. Too much foo foo for me.
I am wondering if I can simply install a basic version of lets say debian and get used to that (no packages or x) and after Im used to that then throw on a minimal kde package and then get used to that and so on...
Is this possible? And what are anyones recommendations as to how to go about this?
Yes it's possible with debian. In the install it will say something about the MBR and then you have to reboot. After that it'll ask you what you want to use your computer for with a list like desktop, server etc. Click cancel. Now it'll ask for packages you want to install, click cancel again and IIRC now just follow the directions. Just cancel anything that has to do with choosing packages or a use of your machine. After that you'll have the minimum system
Closed. Please do not post the same question more than once. Added to that, try using more descriptive titles. Whenever I see a thread called "Simple", my response is "if it's simple, why are you asking here?".
