setting up the nfs server in debian stable.

hello,

im trying to set up an nfs server on a debian stable machine but i'm a little stuck. it's a default install, running debian 3.0r2. i have written my exports file, and the default runlevel is 3. there's links in /etc/rc3.d to start nfs-common and nfs-kernel-server too. the kernel module nfsd doesn't get insmod'd when the machine starts and i don't know how know how to change that so that it does.

i read the how-to on tldp.org, and it lists a whole bunch of things that need to be running, such as rpc.mountd, etc. the only one that is running that is listed is portmap, and i couldn't find anywhere to tell me where i need to add them to be started automatically.

i would really appreciate a little of your knowledge to help me get the nfs kernel server working in debian as google isn't really aiding me this time :) and i'm a debian newbie!

thanks in advance,

graham
