Setting up a domain w/ a cluster

even if I don't own a domain(like www.<insert here>.com) can I still setup a domain for my cluster? Can I set up aliases for machines? so that I can ssh in without giving the ip address? Thoughts?

like in windows you can set up a "domain" but it won't have a www.<insert here>.com. Nobody knows?

Nevermind, I set up my cluster, and it recognizes each of the nodes from their hostname. I guess I don't need a domain. Thank's for all the help :/
