Setting KDE environment variables correctly

I've been in the process of learning how to lock down KDE and do profiles. The kde administration guide lists many very helpful environment variables, but does not tell one where they should be set. I've tried a few different files, like .profile and .bashrc, but it doesn't work.

Where do you set KDE environment variables?

What kind of KDE enviroment variables you want to do. Many things can be setup in the Control Center. The .profile .bashrc files is used for the console enviroment. You can look through .kde, .config, and . local.
