Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Hello. When trying to run an sdl game such as SuperTux or prBoom or Pingus in fullscreen, it does not work properly. In the case of SuperTux or PrBoom, the fullscreen is too large, and I only see a small portion of the screen, whereas in the case of Pingus it is too small and simply is in the top left corner (with the rest of the desktop visible.) In the case of SuperTux, it is the same scenario when I try openGL as well.
Is there some way to fix this? Some xserver-xorg package or something sdl related that I can install? I am using a Dell Latitude D600 laptop, and have LXDE running on it. I have Debian 6.0.6 on it.
Fullscreen video with VLC does work.
If there is no way to fix the fullscreen issue, then I'm also wondering if the screen resolution can be permanently changed to allow a bigger windowing of the games when they start. Currently, it is set at 1400 x 1050, with the refresh rate at 60.4. Via the Preferences menu of LXDE, I can change this to 1024 x 768, which gives a larger window size. But every time I reboot, I have to do this over again. How can I made it the default?
