script to convert system to Debian

I have come across this wonderful script; more info here:

http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel.../msg00313.html

The script is located here:

http://www.hadrons.org/~guillem/debi...er/debtakeover

Since RH9 is coming close to end, I want to move to Debian. I am a fairly new user to linux, so how would I execute the above script???

Your help is appeciated.

I don't know...I want to use Debian but I also want to preserve all my applications and files and what not...so that's one of the reasons for using this script. BTW, I found out how to execute it, but I am running into problems as it saying there is something wrong with the script.

Anyways.

Copy the file debtakeover to an easy to access location. Name it either debtakeover or something you can easily remember, then run the command

chmod +x debtakeover

This file takes care not to immediately destroy or reconfigure major system configuration files, so if you already have Red Hat 9 in place, you shouldn't have to reconfigure it.

To run this script, you're going to be writing and overwriting files and directories on your system, so you'll either have to login as root or use the su command to become the root user. Once you've done that, either cd to the location where you've saved the file and type ./debtakeover or type in the full path where you've saved the script. There are various options you can select, but you can try those out as you go.

Hope it works out well for you!
