Hi everyone
I'm having a problem with the screen size on my monitor. In X and in console the bottom couple of pixels and the rightmost couple of pixels appear to be cut off. So, for example, in console mode I can only see the top half or so of the login prompt. I'm running my monitor at the highest resolution (1024x768 @ 60). So apparently Linux "thinks" my monitor is a bit larger than it is? I tried fooling around with the monitor controls but I could only adjust the location of the screen, not the size. The problem doesn't appear in the BIOS screen, so I'm assuming that the trouble is not the monitor. Thanks for any help anyone can give me.
P.S Does anyone happen to know the specs of my video card? I bought the system used, so I don't have a manual or anything. I opened up the case and couldn't find anything useful (it's an onboard integrated deal by Silicon Integrated Systems I gather(with bridge, ethernet, vga, etc). /proc/pci reads:
Code:
VGA compatible controller: Silicon Integrated Systems Unknown device (rev 49).
Vendor id=1039. Device id=6300.
However, SIS doesn't sell to consumers, and so maintains minimum documentation. Googling doesn't help much either. It appears that there exists a 6326, and 630, but I couldnd find anything helpful on a 6300. Again, if you have the same card or know anything about it, any help would be greatly appreciated.
