Question sarge dependencies problem - installing digikam

Hi to all,

Here goes the problem, please help I have no idea what to do and is this a bug or it's just my system !?!

Code:
[9:44 PM Wed Nov 30] [root@defiant]:/home/mito# apt-get install digikam
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
digikam: Depends: libimlib2-dev but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages
And when I followed libimlib2-dev and so on...

Code:
[09:40 PM Wed Nov 30] [root@defiant]:/home/mito# apt-get install xlibs-static-dev
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:

Smells like you've been adding APT sources for testing and haven't implemented apt-pinning properly.

Short-term solution:
Code:
apt-get install digikam -t stable
Long-term solution : Implement Apt-Pinning, that way you can take packages from testing and/or unstable in a bit more controlled fashion.

thanks for info, but it's not working either

Determining from those package versions mentioned, looks like you have installed X.Org from Ubuntu or have APT sources for Ubuntu in your /etc/apt/sources.list? If either of those is the case, no wonder this mess appeared eventually.

I don't have any immediate solutions to this, beyond recommending removing any Ubuntu APT sources and packages installed from there, and taking using e.g. XFree86 from Debian stable ('sarge') or X.Org from Debian testing ('etch') instead. I don't know for sure what you are using, I'm just extrapolating this from that output.
