"Retrieving console-data" -installation freezes

I am installating Debian Sarge (the network installation hppa iso) on my hp c360 workstation and i am connected there through my serial port (cu -l). Everything goes OK, until the base-system begins being installed. At 8% the installation pauses/freezes with "retrieving console-data". I've waited for several minutes, but nothing changed. Any ideas? What does "retrieving console-data" exactly means?
Thanks

I've no idea why it's freezing, but to answer your other question.

Debian is getting the package console-data.
