REQ:A solution to random pauses of audio files.

When I'm using various music players in debian, the audio always skips at random intervals, but still continues. Any idea on what I might need to check to correct this problem?

We'll need quite a bit more info. What hardware are you running? Audio chipset? Where are the music files stored? What format are they in?

My first thought was perhaps the files need to be buffered before playback, but that seems a bit unlikely unless they are on a very slow device.

The problem is only with vlc and nothing else. I'll just use banshee which works fine.

So now there isn't a problem? In the original post you said this happened in multiple audio players.

If you have just given up on VLC and will continue using Banshee, then mark this thread as SOLVED.
