repo in dvds
 

hi all. i got a bunch of folders, that consists of programmes and its dependencies. in other words it is like a small repository for me. the size of this is 16GB. what i would like to do is to write the files in dual layer dvds and add them to my sources list. My question is that i do not know how, and how the structure of the dvds should be so they will be debian compatible. The files have been collected from different repositories and sites, so it is not easy to just copy the index file from there. it is only for sarge and the i386 architecture and it consists of main, non-free and the rest. any ideas?

Point your browser to a Debian mirror and find out how that's organised. You need an indexfile of some sort and the files stored in the native .deb format. Build the repo's by putting the files on a disk with your favourite burner (like k3b or Gnomebaker) in ISO format and add your DVD player to the sources.list file. Oh well, you did a search online didn't you? I've found a good site, but as newbee I can't post it yet.... It is however on the Debian website, search there for repository and you're bound to find it. :)

thanks a lot for your reply. your answer did not help me much as i knew all of this, and it is mentioned in my part above. as i said the files and the folders are not from a particular repository. i did a mix and match and i included the dependencies of the files i put in there. also, how do i make the indexfile? i could create an ISO and then it is easy to manage it. thanks in advance.
