remove /var/cache/apt files

I have critical need to cut down my file size. are the two big files

/var/cache/apt/pkgcache.bin and srcpkgcache.bin after all installation/configuration have been done?

I assume all the files in /var/lib/apt/list such as
ftp.debian.org_debian_dists_etch_main_binary-i386_Packages are no longer needed if you don't plan to run apt-get ever again? it is 15 MB big.

I did apt-get clean and that freed up a lot of space. these are the big surviving files.
