Remote webmin access fails
I'm trying to access my webmin server from my Gentoo webmin interface. I made sure to start it on Debian but a network scan does not discover Webmin correctly. If I try to connect to https://<internal IP address>:10000 I get
Error - Access denied for 192.168.2.100 I went through the few config files in /etc/webmin/ and did some RTM but I couldn't find a way connect correctly. Any idea ? |
I tried webmin out in the past... I think you'll have to find a some admin or security menu (connect to it from debian) and enable outside connections. Of course only from your Gentoo box...
If you've already tried that, I can only think of couple of sources for the problem: - Some webmin package (that allows abovementioned configuration) is not installed - TCP Wrappers (see /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny) are too restrictive - A firewall is in the way Hope this helps... |
Weird...
but problem solved. For some reason, even though I had changed permissions for allowed IP addresses in Webmin, it still wouldn't let me connect. All I had to do was to shut down webmin manually, change the "allow=" line in miniserv.conf and restart it. |
what did you change you allow= line to? I am having the same kinda problem when trying to access remotely. But it gives me access denied. I do not even have an allow= line in minserv.conf (i want to allow access from all ips)
