remote restart server without keyboard

I'm having an unusual problem.

When i try a

Code:

shutdown -r now

remotely it hangs on the screen

Quote:

System Restarting.

This only happens if there is no keyboard attached.

Now the problem i have is i have 50 of these remote machines that need to be restarted periodically. At the moment I'll have to buy 50 keyboards which is both awkward and expensive.

the other thing to note is it only happens when the keyboard isn't present on the last boot up.

I've looked at the bios but everything seems to be in order in there.

Hmm.. I am using debian too..

I usually use the command

Code:

reboot

And everything is rebooted even remotely... This happens on all of your machines?
