read mails from /var/mail/user with thunderbird


hi

howto read (import) mails from:
Code:
/var/mail/user
or
Code:
/var/spool/mail/user
with thunderbird ?

Code:
# su user
user@debian:/root$ mail
Mail version 8.1.2 01/15/2001.  Type ? for help.
"/var/mail/user": 240 messages 240 unread
I tried Movemail, but it doesn't work.
I have sarge stable.

Don't know about thunderbird but you could use mutt (a terminal program) to read your local mail.

but thunderbird normally can read root mails in /var/mail/root

cannot understand why cannot read from /var/mail/user ?

# sudo chmod 01777 /var/spool/mail/
solved this problem !
