radiusclient1

Greetings,

I am brand new to this forum so please feel free to point out any errors or other problems with my post. The end result I would like to achieve is to have my freeradius server authenticate to remote sites for PPP login at those sites using local networks at the remote sites. So far I have the freeradius server working with MySQL, just as I had wished. I am reasonably sure it is configured somewhat correctly, as I can authenticate successfully with radtest. From what I have been reading, I believe that PAP authentication is what I want (however I would be much happier with ssh or similar). That server machine is running : Linux 2.6.12-1-686-smp i686 GNU/Linux with FreeRADIUS Version 1.0.4. I used apt-get unstable to install all of the programs.

Now comes the current problem I've encountered, radiusclient. I tried portslave and was unsuccessful and hunted for a client with more documentation, so I located radiusclient1, which appeared to be a little more forthcoming with the comments. My client machine is using Linux geezer 2.6.12-1-686 with radiusclient1_0.3.2-8_i386.deb installed

I have successfully installed and tested the ppp server, just can't seem to master the radius portion of my project.

A few of my current questions:
1. Are there any better documented or commented, or more current radius clients for debian machines?

2. I noticed that I've been unable to locate many recent documents regarding the client portion of radius, is it being phased out for something newer?

3. Can anyone point me to a HOWTO or documentation that is more detailed for us slow people?

4. Being a newbie to this forum, is it ok to post my lengthy config files so that I can ask specific questions about certain lines?

5. Which logs would be of interest?

I have many many more questions, but this being my first post, I figured that I'd keep it somewhat short. I can supply any more info required.

Thank you,
Gary
