quad core kernel question


now I know the i386 kernel will work But being as I have a quad core 64bit cpu is that really the best choice aside from compiling my own

If you have a 64-bit processor, then get the amd64 kernel (yes, even if your processor is from Intel, unless you actually have an Itanium processor -- then get the ia64 version). Just know that not everything is well-supported on 64 bits yet (like Flash).

If you don't want to go 64 bits, at least get an i686 kernel.
