Question PROXY server

Hi everyone. I have IBM e series with Debian GNU 3.0 in it. I'm using this machine as a proxy server in a LAN. I wan to ask, how to activate username so every user that want to connect to internet must enter username and password because until now, everyone can use internet for free (no need to enter username)

Thanks

you could use some ip/mac identifiaction....
Like someone who has _this_ MAC gets _that_ IP .... - dhcp server

Do some logging..

Don't know about the password but there must be something for dial-up servers you might find usefull...

The downside with the above mentioned _temporary_ solution is that users could borrow IPs from one to another... (static IP)

But that's no probl since only one will use it at a time and I am sure you will find something
