I am running on Debian Sarge KDE 3.2 with GDM. Then I apt-get upgrade kde to version 3.3. After it finished, I rebooted the system, reached gdm, selected KDE and login. But it still shows KDE 3.2?
So I tried apt-get install kdm, chose as default display manager, rebooted and reached kdm, tried logging in and no response after I click the "Login" button.
Went back to console and tried startkde, it flood my screen with "Kpersonaliser bla bla bla".
Tried "startx" but it start xfce instead.
1) Is my upgrading KDE the way correct to do so?
2) How do I edit startx to let it start other DE/WM? I don't have the .xinitrc file in my home directory.
3) How do I choose whether to start kdm or gdm on boot?
Thanks and Happy New Year
