Problem installing VMWare Tools in Debian

Hi everyone,

I have searched through the net looking for an answer for my problem, but have been unsuccessful. I have a Win 7 Pro, and I installed Debian and installed the updates and kernel headers. I then tried to install the VMWare Tools, but it fails with the following:

*****
Searching for a valid kernel header path...
The path ""is not a valid path to the 2.6.32-5-amd64 kernel headers.
Would you like to change it?

Enter the path to the kernel header files for the 2.6.32-5-amd64 kernel? /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.32-5-amd64/include/linux

The path "/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.32-5-amd64/include/linux" is not a valid path to the 2.6.32-5-amd64 kernel headers.
Would you like to change it? [yes]
*****

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Install meta-package linux-headers-amd64 and try again.

Installing the build-essential package did the trick. Thanks for your help.
