Lightbulb problem installing nvidia drivers..

hey guys whats up? i just upgraded to the kernel 2.6.7 the other day.. and now i have to install my VC drivers again.. it was no problem i had them already on my HD and i installed them.. everything went without a hitch..
then i added at the bottom of the /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh file modprobe nvidia <-- so it loads up everytime.. ok so now i type in startx it goes fine into my openbox... then i do a restart to see if all is well.. i go to type startx.. i get this error..

Fatal server error:
caught signal 8. Server aborting

X10: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0" after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

any ideas ppl? it seems the driver diasspears or something after i restart? i dono

You don't need the "modprobe nvidia." That happens by default.

you may need to run the "nvidia-installer" program again (it will compile the driver for your new kernel). and yeah, u shouldn't need to add "modprobe nvidia" anywhere...the installer should do that automatically.

peace.
