Printing Problem - Cups, Foomatic and HP LaserJet

I am using a ThinkPad T20 laptop with Debian Sarge installed. In regards to printing, I have so far been able to get network printers to work by using the RAW option in CUPS when setting them up.

However, now we have an HP Color LaserJet 2600n and I cannot get it to work at all.

I have done some research and there is a foomatic driver available for it from http://foo2hp.rkkda.com/.

The packages I have installed are foomatic-bin, foomatic-db, foomatic-db-engine, foomatic-db-gimp-print,
foomatic-db-hpijs, foomatic-filters, foomatic-filters-ppds and foomatic-gui.

When I use the CUPS web interface (http://localhost:631) to add the printer the driver shows up and I select it. When I print a test page from CUPS it just says "Connected to host, sending print job..." and that's it. The printer is not receiving any information, or at least the lights on it don't flash like it should when it receives a job.

If anyone has got this printer working with Debian and CUPS I would really appreciate it if you could tell me how you did it, because as far as I can tell I've done everything I should to make it work. My Gentoo and Fedora using colleagues are printing just fine :-(

Check the log files on the print server. You probably have something misconfigured on that side. Like a permissions problem or maybe you need gs-esp installed

I had the same problem with HP PSC 1315 MFD device.

The driver is different, but I think the issue is the same as the one I had...

Thanks for the replies, but the problem remains. The printer is a network printer and I know I have the correct ip because other Linuxes can print to it. If other Linuxes can print to it, then I don't think it is a permissions problem on the print server side.

The URI I am using is "socket://10.10.10.10:9100". Other folks are using this URI successfully.
