The following NEW packages will be installed:
  htdig{a} kdebase-runtime-data-common{a} khelpcenter4{a} lockfile-progs{a} 
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  kcontrol{a} kdesktop{a} kicker{a} konqueror{a} 
The following packages will be upgraded:
  kdebase-bin kdebase-data
Thanks. I followed your advice and now kdebase-bin and kdebase-data are updated. Thanks again. Does removing kdesktop and kcontrol mess up my kde apps? I've tried amarok and k9copy and they seem to work, but I'm not sure what kdesktop does anyway.

I can't tell you since I haven't done it. I'm waiting for you to tell me! If it has removed all those packages I can't imagine that everything will be working as before.
