ping works but no webpage in browser


hi
i'm net to debian,i just installed it using DHCP to configure my network settings during installation(DHCP detected my network)
now i can ping any site or any computer in the lan through shell but my browser can't load any web pages,what is wrong?

What browser are you using and is it starting in offline mode? If you are using the network manager program with a ppp connection it can cause firefox and some other programs to start in "offline" mode. What is the error message from your browser?
