php4 problem (browser prompts to save file)

hi
Ive installed apache1.3 and php4 on my debian box...everything when smooth I can even open the default index.html when I type .... http://localhost/
The problem is that I created a simple php page (or any other php page for that matter) and when I type http://localhost/x.php... instead of displaying thep page the browser prompts me if I want to save the file or to open it.
Ive added the php extension to httpd.conf.. and Ive searched the web any help please :C

Check within your apache config file to make sure that the php module is actually loaded. You should be looking for line something like:
Code:
LoadModule php4_module /usr/lib/apache/1.3/libphp4.so
If it's not there, add it in or uncomment the line, then restart apache. Debian seems to leave the modules it installs commented out, meaning you have to manually change it.
