Patch new kernel post compiling

I'm just compiling the 2.6.24 kernel using my existing .config but I've forgotten to patch the kernel with the Debian boot logo. Can this be done after compilation has finished (it will take a while yet)?

You can modify the kernel config or apply patches to the kernel after you have compiled ... but your compiled kernel will not have those things enabled.

You will have to run the kernel compile again.

Kind of like making a casserole from a recipe ... then after you have made it you modify the recipe ... I don't think the casserole changes.

OK! Well I haven't tried applying any patches or modifying the kernel config, I decided to just boot into the new kernel. Strangely enough I have a Tux boot logo up there instead of the Debian boot logo. Well I'm not complaining and my new graphics tablet is now lit up; compiling support for that was the main reason for the kernel update. The tablet won't work till I've modified Xorg but I'll leave that for another day. As for this kernel, I can cheerfully live with little Tux.
