Optimizing Debian


i want to optimize debian so it boots super fast

all it has to do is be able to play mp3's

is their any good sites on the net that will help

where do i start

I was also wondering if LFS of Gentoo would be better for this type of project

try shutting almost everything down in inetd - a word to the wise - comment out what you don't want - dont delete the entries

There are mini distros for that purpose.
Look for Movix and Movix2 in freshmeat.
