Opera and an error about motif

I have installed Opera fine, by dpkg -i'ing the Opera deb supplied on their site. However, I can not seem to make an error about motif go away. I attempted to download the motif installer on their site, but dpkg -i refused to install due to failed dependancies, and when I tried to apt-get so it would satisfy the dependancies and install it, instead it was marked as needing to be uninstalled. I also tried installing the motifnls package, but it didn't have any effect.

Any other ideas?

There should be a statically linked version available on Opera website. Try that. If there is not, then do a

"apt-cache search motif"

and install whatever Opera complains about - with aptitude or apt-get.

Try this version (it works on my box): opera_8.50-20050916.6-shared-qt

Also, install the lesstif2 package.
