Opening OpenOffice files on Samba server

Hi all, simple question: I can only open OpenOffice documents if I copy them off the samba server to the local computer, I can't open them directly from the server (Openoffice just dies). Can this be worked around or is it a bug?

It's a known bug. Funnily, OpenOffice relied on a bug with network drives that MS had implemented but Samba didn't.

A more recent version of OO should solve the problem.
