ok , I heard of a net install debian that uses the gentoo portage system I was wonder if I could use a command in sources.list to get the deb *** portage system in debian that can install the deb packs thought it ,
does anyone here know were I can find the http:// link or ftp:// link for he debian from skcatch portage system , what to add it to my unstable (sid) system

unstable and sid is the same right? also I aptitude it does not seem to change the versions of the files why? I first had woody on it then updated it to unstable version information only updated with apt-get dist-upgrade and apt-get upgrade system only seem to detected different files , as I can tell the only difference in gnome is from 50 to 52? strange version numbers, also notice that kde 3.12 is the same under desktop users selection , only under uninstall apps did it show the only newer version number , also note xfree version did not change either in aptitude it still shows version 4.3.0 not 4.4.0 which should be the newest beta version , what happened did it not update every thing right?

You can check the latest available versions of programs here:

http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages

PS. You probably haven't noticed but there's a search engine here in linuxquestions.org. (See the upper part of this page.) Using this search helps you to get answers to your questions much quicker than waiting that someone notices your question.
