nvidia module fails after upgrade to xorg

I upgraded to xorg from X 4.3 (sarge) (I wanted to run the wdfast download manager). That worked but now X does not run the nvidia driver: says 'driver does not exist' or something.

At the moment I'm using the nv driver but how do you get the nvidia driver to work with xorg?

You might try downloading the lastest driver from the nvidia site and let it compile and install a new driver.

If you have an old NVidia-Installer program, use the --update option. This will download the latest driver for you.

It will also install an "nvidia-xconfig" program which can get you started on a new xorg.conf file if you want to.

sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0.8762-pkg1.run -a --x-module-path=/usr/lib/xorg/modules
