Nvidia disable higher resolution

Running Debian testing with an old Nvidia TNT Pro card.

Without the Nvidia module, the display allows a maximum 1280x1024 resolution.

Using the driver (NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7184-pkg1.run) from Nvidia website and enabling it (nVidia logo will be shown before login screen), the display only allows 800x600 resolution.

Anyone comes across this weird situation and has a solution?

Use the nvidia-settings program to adjust the resolution. You'll find it in Applications -> System tools or from a root shell:
Code:
nvidia-settings
