ntfs partition write problem

hello,

im using etch. and i cant seem to write on my laptops ntfs partition.

i added this to fstab

/dev/sda2 /mnt/ntfs ntfs user,rw,umask=1000 0 0

this made me able to read the ntfs drive but not write on them. i tried the suggestions of around 4 sites on how to fix this using ntfs-3g and ntfsmount and a couple of fstab config variations.

like in ntfsmount:
/dev/hda1 /mnt/c ntfs-fuse fmask=0111,dmask=0,locale=en_US.utf8 0 0

but it's still the same. still cant write on the disk.

can anyone point me to a site that offered a solution that has worked for them lately? it would be much appreciated.

thank you for your time,

mikel

Your original post's examples show different partitions and drives. Are you possibly getting confused? Is it /dev/hda1 or /dev/sda2?

What happens when you try to mount using ntfs-3g at the command line?
Code:
sudo mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/hda1 /mnt/c
If that succeeds then
Code:
sudo touch /mnt/c/delete.me
Please include error messages in your reply.
