non-debian cd

Any ideas at all are much appreciated. |
If I understand your problem correctly, you're having trouble because of multiple bad cd's being burnt. I've used some of the unofficial netinst CD's for sid and sarge, and haven't had this problem. Could your CD burner (or blank CD's) just be bad or dirty? Could you try having a friend burn you one from a different sort of blank CD-R, and see what that results in?
If you're getting partially bad burns, I'd suspect burning the larger CD's will cause even more problems for you, and I think you should stick with netinst (unless maybe it's a bad download? Try another mirror's CD?). Or am I misunderstanding the problem? By the way, I'd encourage you to, after booting from the CD, hit F1 or F2 or whatever, go through the menus, and choose to boot off of kernel 2.6.x. I believe they have much better SATA support, and the odds of your controller being supported are best that way (as opposed to 2.4.x). |
I have successfully installed Debian Sarge today. I resolved this problem I was having with the burnt cd's a couple of days ago. The problem was that I was burning a data cd instead of an image cd.
Thank you for your reply, however. |
