no sound in etch


i installed etch but found i have no sound except for the system speaker. i have a soundblaster value live card. it is detected on my system. anyone?

I assume you are using ALSA?

Have you checked if the modules are loaded correctly?
lsmod|grep ^snd

Try
apt-get install alsa-utils
then run alsaconf

Perhaps your speakers are muted in the mixer settings? Try alsamixer
