no screensaver with gnome and squeeze

just did a new install of squeeze using the DI beta 2 and installed the nvidia driver the debian way, then the rss-glx screensavers

when i set a screensaver i can preview it and it runs fine, but when it times out the screen just goes blank.

how do i get the glx screensavers to show?

ok, did the same install at home, although 64 bit and the most recent nvidia driver package from debian and the rss-glx screensavers start and run just fine. so forgot to mention that on my first box, it is 32 bit and the 173 legacy packages

anyone?

What are the settings in the screensave preferences? And in power management?

to answer your question: skyrocket is set for 15 minutes, power management is set to never put the display or computer to sleep.

but i think i fixed it by installing the nvidia-settings gui package. there is an option for powermizer configuration and it was enabled. i tested with it both checked and unchecked and the screensaver worked both times so not sure if that was it or not. but it works and im happy

thanks
