no fonts found (fontconfig)

hi,

i have installed a debian system and i want tu run a python program that uses gtk.
This program runs without problem in my other debian system, but in the new one i get

No fonts found; this probably means that the fontconfig
library is not correctly configured. You may need to
edit the fonts.conf configuration file. More information
about fontconfig can be found in the fontconfig(3) manual
page and on http://fontconfig.org

i run fc-list and i get nothing if i run fc-cache i get also nothing.

does anyone knows the solution

thanks
MM

You could try "fc-cache -fv". Other things you can try are "dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig" and "dpkg-reconfigure libpango1.0-common". Of course, you need to "su" to root before you run these commands.

hi,

In the other debian system this was working, so i run fc-cache -v and i saw that all the fonts are from gsfonts package, i have also libpango1.common, but fontconfig doesnt use them.

So the solution was apt-get install gsfonts, after this, run fc-cache, and tho check the fonts fc-list.

thanks
Dead Parrot for your help
