nis client problem in Debian etch

Hi guys, hope you could help me solve this out. It's driving me nuts!

I have a NIS slave setup in my network and have several NIS client bind to it without a problem.

Recently I have a new desktop which I can't install Debian Sarge on it, so I tried Debian etch and it works. So, I proceed on installing NIS client on this debian etch but after installed, I just found difficulty in binding this client into the nis slave I'm running.

In this nis client yp.conf, I have tried both commenting out all ypserver setting to make it do a ypbind broadcast, and also point specifically the ypserver to the dedicated nis slave server, but neither is working.

Basically in setting up nis client just pretty simple, first installed that application and then either you put the nis master or slave hostname in the yp.conf of nis client, or just left the setting blank, to make the nis client to broadcast calling.

But why this time it won't work on my newly installed Debian etch ? the version is the latest one with the following kernel:
//////////////
# cat /proc/version
Linux version 2.6.17-2-686 (Debian 2.6.17-9) (waldi@debian.org) (gcc version 4.1.2 20060901 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.1-13)) #1 SMP Wed Sep 13 16:34:10 UTC 2006
///////////

The version of this problem nis client is 3.17-2, while the version of nis slave is 3.9-6.1. All those working nis client version is 3.13-2.

The error I got in the nis client is:
Jan 26 19:05:12 ypbind[19242]: broadcast: RPC: Timed out.

Anybody out there have a clue ? I could give more info if that is needed, thanks pal.
