Need to know how to provide ana entry in crontab for ntpdate

Hi,

i am trying to configure ntpdate in /etc/crontab (debian) which should update clock from central server in seconds.
the server(address stored in /etc/default/ntpdate) and senconds interval is given from GUI for which backend is written to update an entry in /etc/crontab file...but this is not working
ex:-> /*1 * * * * root /etc/init.d/ntpdate reload ( update every 1 second) what is wrong in this ?

how do i go about configuring this in /etc/crontab file.

Any help would b appreciated.

Regards,
vinod

Resolution for any crond AFAIK is one minute. Notation for "one minute" is "*/1 * * * *". Running ntpdate each second is overkill and those running the ntpd won't like you DoSsing their server. Why not just run ntpd? It will run continuously, poll at sensible intervals and only adjust the clock when necessary.
