Ndiswrapper error on linux with kernel 2.6.8-2-386

Hello! I'm new at using linux and I'm trying to run my wireless card with ndiswrapper. Once I've compiled the module and installed the windows drivers (I can see them with ndiswrapper -l), I write modprobe ndiswrapper and get the following error:

FRANCISCO:/home/fran/ndiswrapper-1.2/# modprobe ndiswrapper
FATAL: Error inserting ndiswrapper (/lib/modules/2.6.8-2-386/misc/ndiswrapper.ko): Operation not permitted

Can anyone help me? I'll post the output of lspci and lspci -n in case it would be needed:

lspci

0000:00:0b.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation: Unknown device 4318 (rev02)

lspci -n:

0000:00:0b.0 0280: 14e4:4318 (rev 02)

Thank you

could it be that you are trying to do that as non-root user?

No, it isn't because of that. I'm writing that as root.
Thank you anyway
