Nagios3 package incomplete in Lenny?

In the sample config file for monitoring a switch - switch.cfg, it refers to a template called 'generic-switch'. However, the file 'generic-switch' is not found anywhere in my installation.

Do I need to manually download the file separately?

Thanks.
PS. Using Debian lenny.

It looks like that configuration file example should have been included with the install of nagios3..

personally I would just download the tar.gz file extract it and grab the config files you need..

you did install nagios3-common also, right ?

Templates still missing in latest nagios (3.0.3)

This problem still happens with the most recent 3.0.3 nagios install from tar.

There is no template defined anywhere (in templates.cfg or switches.cfg or anywhere else) for generic-switch.

Similarly, there are other templates missing. The only defined templates are generic-host and generic-service.

Has anyone found where the missing templates went?

I found the issue. If you already have a version installed, and then install a new release on top of what you've got, the nagios install will not replace .cfg files that already exist. That's a good thing, or all your customizations would be lost. However, it is a bad thing if some things are missing in the .cfg files to begin with, like templates for generic-switch...

Anyway, if you look at the differences between what is in the .tar.gz file you can download from nagios.org and what is on your already installed version of nagios, you'll find the missing templates in templates.cfg
