My Touchpad is dead :-(

My touchpad used to work earlier (in debian), and one day it didn't anymore.
I am currently using an USB-mouse. I have used that and the touchpad at the same time before, so i don't know why the touchpad stopped working. I have tried to reboot without the mouse, with no luck.

I have installed xfree86-driver-synaptics.
And here's what my /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file look like:

Code:
Section "Module"
        <lots of other modules here>
        Load "synaptics"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
        Driver "keyboard"
        Option "CoreKeyboard"
        Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
        Option "XkbModel" "pc104"
        Option "XkbLayout" "no"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
        Driver "synaptics"
        Identifier "Mouse[1]
        Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
        Option "Protocol" "auto-dev"
        Option "LeftEdge" "1700"
        Option "RightEdge" "5300"
        Option "TopEdge" "1700"
        Option "BottomEdge" "4200"
        Option "FingerLow" "25"
        Option "FingerHigh" "30"
        Option "MaxTapTime" "180"
        Option "MaxTapMove" "220"
        Option "VertScrollDelta" "100"
        Option "MinSpeed" "0.06"
        Option "MaxSpeed" "0.12"
        Option "AccelFactor" "0.0010"
# Option "SHMConfig" "on"
# Option "Repeater" "/dev/ps2mouse"
EndSection

Section "ServerLayout"
        Identifier "Mouse[1]"
        Screen "Default Screen"
        InputDevice "Mouse[1]" "CorePointer"
        InputDevice "Generic Keyboard"
        InputDevice "Generic Mouse"
EndSection
Anyone? :-)

There's a "tcpconfig" utility http://packages.debian.org/testing/utils/tpconfig that is supposed to help in configuring touchpads. I haven't used it myself so I cannot say if it's any good, but it most likely wouldn't do you any harm to try it out.

Ok, So I installed it, and got these errors:

As my regular user:
Code:
$ tpconfig -t3 -3
fatal: Could not open PS/2 Port [/dev/psaux]
As root:
Code:
# tpconfig -t3 -3
fatal:

No Synaptics or ALPS touchpad device found
I know that i have a synaptics touchpad.. it used to work :-(

I also have Synaptics touchpad in my laptop but I never use it. Anyway, there's a support page http://w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340/touchpad/ that should help you.

The FAQ says you need to have the "evdev" driver loaded. Run "lsmod" to see if you've got that. The support page also has a more detailed troubleshooting guide.

The driver i have to download on that page is xfree86-driver-synaptics (same as you would get with apt-get install, that is).

I have the evdev-driver loaded, but it still doesn't work..
