Moving a Linux Kiosk machine to new hardware
Now these Kiosks were done as a temp job until the clever boys where I work developed a new one. Problem is the clever boys have never been able to create one. Well they have but it suffers one big flaw they can't print from it.
This means that these Kiosks have been working away reliable for years bar one hard disk failure and a sudden refusal by cups to print to any network printers. I still reckon something was changed on the network to block access. Anyway a upgrade from sid to etchy fixed it and everything is working nicely again.
The hardware they're running on is getting old and sooner rather than later will start to fall to bits and will end up being replaced.
This begs a question. Since I don't have much time to start from scratch and create a new one. Is it possible to move the Kiosk to another machine and make it re-detect the new hardware.
