Mouse no longer works

Yesterday I installed an XServer on my sarge setup, and it worked fine.

Then I shutdown and when I came back this morning I cannot use the mouse.

I was going through a KVM, so I got another mouse and hooked it up to the machine directly, but still no luck.

I've tried running dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86, but I still come up with no useable mouse.

The machine is an HP Proliant DL360

Is there more information I need to provide, or any advice someone can offer?

Install the "mdetect" package. http://packages.debian.org/testing/utils/mdetect
Then run "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86" and you should be given the option to let mdetect autoconfigure your mouse.

If you have 2.6 kernel and PS/2 (or ImPS/2) mouse, you can also add "psmouse" (without quotes) to /etc/modules to ensure that the mouse driver is available when X starts.
