Mouse issue with X configuration

Hi everyone, just installed Debian with a neinstall, and decided for a custom gnome-only version to save bandwidth. However, it seems I missed something as gdm won't start -- it complains about my mouse, which I've tried changing from /dev/input/mice to /dev/input/mouse0 without success (it's a plain, PS/2, 2 button and a scroll mouse). Is there a package I missed when installing?

Can you post the relevant portions of your xorg.conf please?

Take a look at your xorg.conf file; it should look something like this:

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Configured Mouse"
Driver "mouse"
Option "CorePointer"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true"
EndSection

Although, as Chromezero suggested, it would be helpful if you posted your RELEVENT xorg.conf info.
