That would most likely be done through the Monitors OSD (On Screen Display). Even the old monitors had a screw adjustment somewhere...

Hi Folks. This is quite interesting that this question has come up. I've got about 12 OS's that run on this machine from different hard drive caddies, including 3 instances of Debian. One of the Debian ones is showing a 5/8 inch (16mm) shift to the right. It's obviously not a monitor problem in my case, and am at a bit of a loss as what to do. The problem is bearable, but a bit of a nuisance, as when you open apps, they often open on the right of the screen, and the vertical scroll and close button are hidden (off screen). I know it's easy enough to shift the app, but it would be good to solve this problem. It's likely to be an Xconfig thing and I'm not too happy about going there after my last experience. Debian installs:
Debian 3.0r2 (Woody) upgraded to Sarge.
Kernels: 2.4bf (original install from cdrom), 2.4.27-2, 2.6.8 which I'm about to get rid of as it only has Alsa 1.04, and I've replaced it with 2.6.11 which has Alsa 1.08.
KDE 3.3.
