Question Module Problems

Hi

I am running Debian with a 2.6.10 kernel (self-compiled).
It compiled successfully, and make modules_install worked fine.
However, none of the options I selected as modules actually load when the machine boots.
The modules are fine, because they load successfully if I type modprobe <module>.
The /proc/modules file is blank when I cat it as well which I doubt is correct
At startup I sometimes get a message from modprobe saying "Invalid option -r" and the syntax of how to use it.
I have gcc 3.4.3, make 3.80, module-init-tools-3.1-pre5
Any ideas why the modules aren't loading?
It's causing major problems for the system

Cheers

Do you have module-init-tools installed? 2.6 needs different userspace tools. (The debian package is backward compatible).

apt-get install module-init-tools

Tell me how it goes.
