Question mldonkey pidfile?

I have installed mldonkey_server and mldonkey_gui but I have this problem: I always quit from the GUI clicking on "file->disconnect - file->kill core - file->quit", and it seems to close perfectly, but then I cannot launch the server anymore unless I specify a different pidfile with the option "mldonkey_server --pidfile PID".
It says that a pidfile already exists, but I haven't found any file to delete... What should I do to have all my pidfiles back, and how should I quit mldonkey_server/gui clearly?

thanks
