Missing Packages

I've just finished setting up a brand new Debian (testing) installation. Pretty much everything went well, but I can't find some of the packages that I have installed on other Debian systems. So far I can't find amule or xine.

I have the same apt sources that I have used on previous installations but they just don't seem to be there.

Both show up in my apt-cache search. Are you using official debian sources? Try "apt-cache search xine" and "apt-cache search amule" they should be in the list. You have updated your package lists, don't you?

Probably you need to run apt-get update once and make sure you don't get any error messages.

As to your general question: you're right. Sometimes packages are removed from a certain distribution (say "testing") because Sarge is now frozen. Certain packages that have problems will be temporarily removed from the repositories till the errors/problems are fixed.

A search for xine brought up these matches in apt-cache search xine. I use unstable, by the way.
