Making Symbolic link?

Got Firefox 2 up and running and no plugins working, How do I get them? How to link them in?
ln -s /usr/lib/firefox /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins

This isn't working? Need some help. Thanks

Quote:
ln -s /usr/lib/firefox /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins
If the directory /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins exists, this command will create a symbolic link called "firefox" in that directory, pointing to /usr/lib/firefox.

If that directory does not exist, a link to /usr/lib/firefox will be created in /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox named "plugins".

What is it exactly that you want to do here? Create a link in where to where?

I think the goal is to get the library files in the firefox directory be linked into the system library directory, since Firefox won't work without the libraries, and the firefox directory itself is not (by default) checked for the library files.

If you download Firefox from Mozilla, you'll get an archived directory with the executables and library files etc. On some systems where FF is already installed it runs straight "out of the box", but usually one needs to either copy or link all the lib files from that directory to /usr/lib/something, or add that directory to the library path.

I have flash-player in my old /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and I'm trying to link the old on to the new /usr/lib/firefox2, But it isn't linking.Wondering if I should start over by deleting old plugins and install new ones?

1) Locate your old plugins directory
2) Locate your new plugins directory

Do one of the following:

Create symbolic links in the new directory to each plugin in the old directory.

-- or --

Remove the new plugin directory, and replace it with a symbolic link to the old directory.

Question

Found that directory /usr/lib/mozilla has all the plugins I need, Do I just link ff2 and mozilla? Will this work?

ln -s /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins /usr/lib/firefox2

or this;

ln -s /usr/lib/firefox2 /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins

I want all plugins as I had as before in ff 1.5

ln -s /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins /usr/lib/firefox2

is fine.

Make sure to delete the already existing directory, though.
